My cordless impact was enough to spin the crank bolt loose.

The LH side appears to lube better than the RH side. Manually rotating the crank picks up oil on the LH, but not so much on the RH. Might explain why it looks much better on the left.

Both VVT gears have a date code of 11H28 which translates to Nov. 28, 2006. I guess they’re both original after all.

The same 1mm guitar string gets tight at the high spot, but will pass. Fits freely round the rest of it.

This guitar string is just under 1mm and stops in both spots shown. It fits freely around the rest of the VVT gear.
