They are called supports, do the floating part can stay up. If not you can build it in two pieces, but then you have to glue them together.

Yes the proportioning valve is the old one you definitely needed it to route the tubing. Very tricky to do, is very hard to work around all the junk, because everything is so rigid.

The piece in the center is metal that’s were the springs fits. The plunger behind it, I can’t see how to remove it, from there is we’re the fluid leaks out.
