It's not difficult to remove the chrome caps from the original lug nuts. I did it for my D2 and I'm glad I did.

Yes, diffs, transmissions and transfer cases all have breathers. As they heat and cool, the pressure changes inside the unit. They virtually all vent air through a breather. With a plugged breather...
