you might want you make an investment in one, much cheaper than the dealer at $150 an hour

I believe if you had a working crank sensor, your tachometer would show the rpm of the engine cranking over. The problem is, I don't think any of your engine sensors have enough voltage to operate. The crank sensor uses the 5v reference to make an on/off square wave. It then uses that pulse width to tell how fast the engine is running, so it can send fuel and spark at the right time.

It may have something to do with the battery being dead or disconnected for so long... it shouldn't, but it may. I think I read a thread about these same codes a long time ago. If I remember right, they got the same codes right after giving someone a jump start. In that case, I guess it could have been a bad power or ground connection somewhere.

wrong, your tach will show 0 until the the truck has started which is why you need a scanner with live output, but you know better

It's not going to have any accurate live data at all with no 5v reference. At least not for any sensors on that circuit. It may show some useless O2 values... maybe.

I agree with drowssap. With vehicles as defective as these, you really NEED a good scan tool.

OK!

so, at the indy shop, they found a plug at the back of the ECU that was not plugged..

I couldn't see one and still don't know where it is but, hey! it starts!

They told me it runs loud and I agree but, not as bad as all that.

Also, i hear something like a tiny slippage on a belt or something - but i imagine I'll have some strange sounds on what can only be laughingly referred to as "fuel" in it right now - from 1.5 years ago...

NOW, I still need some help because i'm only missing two bolts on the steering pump and I have NO idea the exact correct sizing....

I've been told they are M8 and 70mm long but no one knows the shoulder length on the smooth vs. threaded shaft... or the pitch...

I really can't even figure it out on rover parts.com site..

Does anyone know any more specifics? this is the only thing keeping me from driving more than 100 feet

Just looking for the exact specs (and a pic if anyone has one) of the exact bolts needed (2 of the same bolts only) for the steering pump (not the bracket).

It's too late today probably, but you can probably call Zack Griswold at roversnorth and ask him. They show to have one in stock. It's pretty cheap too, so you could probably even source it from him unless you're in a hurry.

Awesome to hear that you got it running! I figured it was a bad connection or a short. Now if you test the voltage at the sensors, with the key on, you'll have 5 volts! Thanks for actually posting the outcome, not many people do for weird problems like this. It will help someone out in the future for sure.

Are your codes gone too?

Not sure about codes yet - spent a bit there this afternoon cleaning up the result of two missing power steering pump bolts...

lesson learned, feet from my garage at home so, silver linings...

will check codes tomorrow
