Discovery 2 auto to R380 manual Swap
I already know I'm nuts. I know it's a lot of work. But I'm converting my 04 Discovery 2 to a manual R380 trans. The torque converter broke in the truck. Either way I have to pull the transmission. I figure might as well do a manual swap.
The main purpose of this thread is to show the trials and tribulations of a R380 swap in a D2. Lots of people asked the question what is needed to do the swap but never show the nuts and bolts of the process.
So let's get started!! I jacked the front up and put it on blocks. I followed the process shown in the free D2 repair manual to remove the Autobox.

Let's keep this thread positive. Peace!

I took the catalytic converters, cross member, center muffler, front & rear drive shafts and E brake drum off.
The cross member's have soft bolts with a small head. Only 3 of 8 came out without a torch. All the heads stripped in a wrench. Once really hot and an easy out hammered on they came out with ease.
The muffler bolts were so rusted I just cut them all off with a cut off wheels. I'll fix them later.
Took off the E brake assembly off the transfer case and wired it off to the side.

The transmission is from a 94 D1. I found it on Craigslist a couple years ago. It came with the pedal box, trans, transfer case, shifter & transfer case shifter, center console, wiring harness, trans and transfer case mounts, bunch of bolts and some other stuff. I couldn't pass up all the parts for $700.
Is there anyway to get the admins to approve your posts? It's been 2 days. Unless they deleted it. I'll repost it tomorrow and see what happens.
For some reason my picture is rotated in my original post. Here it is flipped. haha!!
