Default Transfer Case Swap $$$? ('02-'03)

Has anyone with an '02 or '03 Disco PAID A SHOP to have their T-Case swapped out for a'99-'01-Case with the linkage added, an '04-Case, or had the necessary output & linkages installed AT A SHOP?

I have gotten to my breaking point and must have CDL and I'm gearing up to start calling around for quotes and wanted to see what I might be looking at for the swap and/or install.

---

Pertinent info before you have to ask...
1. I have an '02 with 136K
2. No, I do not need a "new" T-case
3. No, I do not want to try to do this job myself

Thanks for your help!

^^ I love that, If only it will make a difference!

I can tell you the real Land Rover book time on the swap is is 3.7 hours for the box and linkage assembly replacement is 1.6 (including center console removal etc). What they're actually going to try and bill for is probably a little higher. Obviously multiply those numbers by the shop rate for whoever you're going to use for a close idea. I can tell you from a dealer you're going to be looking at $750-$850.

^ Yeah, HAHA

Thanks for the info, so looking at roughly 6 hours of labor.

I'd be a happy camper if I could get in and out under $1000 for everything including parts, so $750-$850 labor at the dealer probably wouldn't cut it. I guess to be honest, there is NO chance I will take it to a dealer. There are a handful of indie shops in my general area that I can choose from, just want to get an idea of what I'm looking at so I don't get taken to the cleaners.

I just had the t-case in my '04 replaced(needed it). The "new"(used) t-case and labor came under $1000.

If you never heard of it, check this site for the t-case: Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

BTW: '04 t-cases run more than the '99-'01, so you could probably get away cheaper, but the shifter to run the cdl may set you back a little.

Thanks for the links Kenk! This is just what I needed, hopefully the shipping on linkage isn't outrageous, because that seems like a screaming deal.

I just added the CDL to my existing T-Case. Parts w/linkage ran $600. and I did the labor. NOT EASY, but doable. I had help and Bothered Dave a bit on the phone.
