Default Transfer case swap DII 2001 for a DII 2004

Hi, everybody!
I bought a 2001 DII with a bad transfer case (non-lockable) and want to put in a transfer case from a 2004 DII that is lockable. The 2001 has only one warning lamp switch, the 2004 has two. More importantly, the solenoid switch on the 2001 comes from the transfer case body, but the solenoid switch for the 2004 is in the selector housing. Is there a easy way to make these electrical parts function? I have the entire shifter, shifter selector box and linkages from the 2004.

Never mind. Todd with Toddco just got back with me. The 2004 does not have a solenoid period. He said the only wire that needs to be hooked up is the high/low detect switch.

Thanks!

You better go get a second option, all Rover t/case that were with an automatic tranny have had s shift lock solenoid.

I'm pretty sure the interlock on the newer discos was in the actual shifter.

I seem to remember there was an extra solenoid on the 2004 CDL shifter I put in my 2000 the other year. My transfer case wasn't wired for the extra solenoid, so I left it off.

*This is going from a memory from over a year ago, so RMV.

You are wrong or I must have replaced the wrong part when my t/case solenoid failed.

If we are talking about the lock solenoid on the top of the t/case, all Rovers have them as a saftey device.

Thanks for the posts. According to my DII manual, 03 and up have the solenoid interlock and multiplug inside the shifter housing. I'm picking my transfer case up Friday afternoon but when I called them and asked them about it they said when they took it out there wasn't any plug or wiring that was attached to the shifter housing. That's when I started asking and calling around. I guess I'll find out when I pick it up Friday. I had heard that the 04 Transfer case was the easiest way to go in order to get a locking one. Where does the wire come out of the shifter assembly is what I'm wondering about. My diagram doesn't show.
