Default 2003 Freelander...should I buy?

Nube here. I'm looking at a 2003 Freelander with over 80K miles. Wondering what specific items I should be concerned with having checked out before I purchase.

Any thoughts, and advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Bill

I am parting out a 03, that had 63,000 miles. I tore the engine. I thought it had a bearing knocking. All the bearings and crankshaft look fine. Must of been a wrist pin. If you need parts please call 850-305-1957. Charles

Nice little car, but... It is expensive to repair unless you are a very good mechanic, and the parts are still expensive. This is my fourth (and last) British car. Things break on all of them for no reason at all. They spend more time in the shop than any 10 other cars combined.

Charles,
Assuming my 03 Freelander get's back from the shop next week with no big issues, I am looking for a small interior part. I need the plastic hinge under the center console arm rest. I don't need the arm rest, just the plastic base and hinge. Do you have that in any condition to sell? .. oh and how much (can you post a photo?)
