Oil light on a freelander keeps coming on
Hi guys, I have a Freelander 2 3.2ltr where the oil light is now coming on most of the time.
We have owned the car for about a year and a half now and the engine was working fine, about 3 months ago it went into a garage to have its first service and after that things haven’t been the best.
First a week after the oil change it popped an oil vacuum seal under the aircon unit, this was repaired, the car seemed fine for the next few weeks but then the oil light came on.
The garage expected this to be coming from the pump so a recondition seal pack was used.
Oil light was fine for about a week then back on, so the oil sensor was replaced.
Again fine for about a week then back on.
We check the wiring harness and all seems fine
Again fine for about a week then back on.
We have checked the oil pressure and it seems fine to the point of when increase revs it goes higher etc. We have also checked the dash and this seems fine with no bad connections or broken solder.
The service tech did say there was what appeared to be broken plastic in the oil pan after the first oil light came on which they could track the source from and the oil level sensor was dirty but has been clean.
It has now had 2 filters and 2 oil changes to flush anything out.
What we are seeing in the car now is
In the morning the oil light is off until the car seems to warm up, then for the rest of the day the oil light come on even if the car is not fully warm.
We aren’t receiving any DTC errors
Pressures seem fine
Next on the list is Oil level sensor but again hard to know if it is the problem without any error codes.
I can’t speak more highly of the garage looking at it, they have been great.
Has anyone else had this type of problem in the FL2?
