Default New Discovery owner!

Greetings! I just purchased a 2001 Discovery after being a Jeep Wrangler owner. The Rover has 87,000 miles and was owned by a mechanic, so it's in excellent condition. I've always done my own repair work on my vehicles, but the rover seems a little intimidating compared to the Jeep. I know the knowledge you guys have will help keep my rover on the road. My plans for her are bigger offroad tires (BFG AT), a lift kit (will I need a different driveshaft with a 2" lift?), serious front bumper with winch, and roof rack. I can't wait to take the rover camping!

Welcome. You might want to check your existing front prop shaft for grease fittings. Ones without start making a chirp, then fly apart and spear the tranny. Here's the DIY rebuild, from our tech section where more info is available on many topics of interest. Propshaft Rebuild - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum
