Default 03 RR HSE jumpy above 15/20 mph - fuel filter?

Have a 2003 RR HSE with 86,500 miles. The other morning it got jumpy (almost like running out of gas) when you hit the accelerator to go above 15/20 mph. It is at the shop (local ind. BMW) and they have eliminated some ideas and think it may be the fuel filter.

Any RR quirks that may help them diagose?

Thanks!

possibly, could also be a broken hose causing a lean code.

Are you getting any mis-fire, engine to lean/rich, etc. codes? My first thought is, when was the last time the spark plugs were changed out?
