300 tdi, holding back power with a jumpy rev counter

Cool 300 tdi, holding back power with a jumpy rev counter

morning guys and girls, recently my 96 300tdi has started resist acceleration and the rev counter is a little jumpy. anyone ever had this and if so what do I need to do, any help greatfully received.

Jumpy tach is usually bad connection on back of alternator, check your intake hoses for de-lamination.
If the valve tappet clearances havent been checked then i would also look at them.
