So, I bought a 1996 Range Rover 2 weeks ago at an auto auction. I had it towed home (due to a flat). I was able to start it with a jump. It's been 2 weeks, and it won't start now. The battery is holding juice, but it's failing to starting now.
I need to add that I recently removed the window, as the tract was broken, and I wanted to drive it without worrying about breaking the glass.
So, when I try to start it the alarm goes off, and the dash is telling me that there is an air bag fault and the engine has been disabled. It's also telling me about the window.
My question... What do I do now? How can I get it to start? Am I totally screwed? I bought this thing for $1,700 (it books for over $4,000) with the intention of fixing it up a bit and making some money. Do I just cut my losses?
You came to the right place. There are posts on this forum for a variety of replacement window rollers, a cheap fix. There are lots of posts about reasons the alarm system disables the vehicle, and how to correct it. Also many posts and member signatures with a link to down load the RAVE, which is a giant file of all the tech manuals for various Rovers, like shop manual and electrical guide. Well written in the King's english with photos, etc. What ever you did to the alarm, it now controls your vehicle and has turned it into a pasture ornament.

Hang in there! I'm sure one of us can help you. Let the members check in for a few days and you will get your answer. Don't point it towards the pasture yet.

SGTSHAMMY: I don't believe that you will make money on this car. They are fun to drive and don't get me wrong BUT Land Rovers are $$$$$$$ and as long as your wallet is think enough to pay for this and that you will be just fine.
P.S: Being on this site will help you save money with not having to take it to a mechanic. Hang in there man!!
