I don't have an lcd display in my cars. However, the aircraft I fly have LCDs and Analog gauges. Aside from it being "fancy" there isn't much of a difference for me. They all do the same thing, the LCD is just a bit more complicated and takes some getting used to. Once you master the functions and can put up with some of the short comings, it makes a very effective tool to have.

I sat in a 2010 and while the dash cluster was nothing short of impressive, I still love the analog gauges! I also fly a combo of analog and LCD and the LCD has it's purpose (GPS, Terrain, WX, Approach plates,,,)
Not as important when driving but when your in the clouds (called IFR) and the screen goes dark, this is a really bad thing!!!! Backups and redunducy!!!!

I fly for fun right now in a club that has about 10 planes. I usually fly 172s or archers. I'm thinking about getting my commercial license soon, we'll see though. Gotta get through college first . What are you flying a big caravan for? Hauling supplies into the Alaskan tundra? lol.
