Default $1100+ for fuel pump repair

Hi,
I received an $1100 quote from the mechanic for the fuel pump repair (filter, pump relay, etc) and this includes the $90 diagnostic test. I really do not know anything about cars and am not very familiar with costs of specific parts-- does this sound realistic? I know there are cheaper fuel pumps online, but I don't think they are able to order from non-trusted sites.

The breakdown for the parts & labor:
$620 fuel pump
$27 fuel filter
$20 seal
$220 labor
& tax and diagnostics

Any help would be very appreciated!! Thank you!

For what year and model, what was the truck doing and did you have any fault codes?
Don't OK this because it is way over priced.

My car is a '99 Land Rover Discovery & has about 112,000 miles. The engine is turning, but it is not starting. We initially thought it was the battery, but it tested good, and it's not the starter or alternator.

There were no lights if these are "fault codes". I'm getting a couple more estimates and wanted to see if anyone had an idea of what is reasonable. Thank you!

probably a DI since he list the fuel pump and fuel filter separately. Brit, they made both the DI and DII in 1999 so be aware of that when you buy parts.

It is a DI... The fuel pump is expensive, but I'm not sure what is reasonable for labor cost, etc, and whether this is the right diagnosis... My car is over 100,000 miles so I assumed this could be the case?

Disco Mike will be able to give you an accurate estimate on labor. Here's a question for everybody, with a pump that expensive does anybody out there rebuild them?

Fuel pump for my Classic Disco I was $200 pre advanced EVAP.
99 fuel pump is $370 from Atlantic British and 45mins to put in " you do NOT have to drop the fuel tank.

I received another quote but the cost depends on what type of fuel pump my car takes-
$700 for the cheaper option (fuel pump is $340)
$1000 for more expensive option (fuel pump is $640 bc it has an evaporative recovery unit).
They said they will need to see my car before determining the match.

I appreciate the info.-- sounds like I'm getting a pricey estimate but I obviously cannot fix it myself and the part itself is not cheap. Do you know if Disco I's have a specific fuel pump or does it vary?

Your pump # from AB is WFX101020K CALL them up.
It is under the carpet in the back six screws hold a cover and a Ele plug (undo the Battery) and two fuel lines a large pair of channel locks to undo the ring that holds the pump in.
If you call AB they will tell you all you need they are very helpfull.
