Default % off of MSRP?

What kinds of discounts, if any, are people seeing? If geography matters, I am in North Texas. Are you seeing larger discounts if you order vs what is on the lot?

If you order, what is the current delivery time?

Thanks very much!

Hey Trey,

I’d be really surprised if there’s much (or any) discounting happening on these. Most dealers have a long order queue, and between the fact they’ve just been released and the production delays caused by the pandemic, there’s plenty of demand, despite the tough economy.

Wait times for orders seem to be 4-5 months, once the order gets slotted in (which also carries a wait, with most dealers.)

I’ve mostly talked to dealers in California, but from what I’ve seen nationally, the few in inventory are selling quickly (and each dealer seems to be hanging on to one for test drives.) Curious to hear if things are much different in other areas.

I think a more likely would be % over invoice to get anything in stock. I would be betting months of wait time to order right now

There are zero discounts right now because there are only a few hundred Defenders that have been shipped to the United States and some dealers don't have any inventory. When I purchased mine in NJ, they were trying to sell it for $16,000 above sticker price......but eventually they did sell it to me for MSRP (as I had walked out of the dealership and told them to give me a buzz if it does drop to MSRP). The issue is supply and demand. In NJ, according to my dealer, they won't even have any order calls for another 60 days. So I highly doubt you could get anything below MSRP. At my closing, the finance guy said some have paid $20,000 over sticker. Only thing I was able to negotiate was money off of the extended warranty (got 6 yr/75K mile).

if you are a Costco member see if there is a participating dealer in your area. I got my 2020 Discovery Sport through the Costco car buying program and saved a lot. (I think it worked out to about 6% below MSRP.) The hitch was that only one dealer in Florida was participating so I drove 4 hours to make it happen. The discount rate changes monthly so keep checking if you don't have any luck initially.

Yeah they wont budge on price but looking at cars.com Im seeing more and more for sale sitting on lots.
Wait 6 more months and see if the economy tanks any more then maybe they wont be so smug.
IDK
