I’m not gonna lie I didn’t read this whole post Before I posted my pictures, so I’m just learning about what I’ve stumbled upon. I didn’t realize it was this complicated and never occurred to me that you would need a programming tool. I was more worried about plug and play. 😂
Hi everyone,
Then there are three specifications of LED headlights, UK market, EU and North American market, and USA market.
The first thing to respect would be the lighthouse code relating to the market of your car.
If the market does not correspond, the software loaded into the headlight ECU may not allow the light to function correctly.
Second important thing, (see powerfuluk video), the installation of new headlights requires programming the headlight ECU, you need to flash the software, in addition to encoding the appropriate ccf file.
The installation of a pair of used headlights from the correct market requires only the coding of the CCF file, a different VIN will be stored in the ECU memory but this does not generate error DTCs.
All this naturally applies to original OEM headlights.
If you need to program the light with software flash, the only one that can perhaps help is: autosvs, in the person of Gary, has the possibility of working with a PC remotely and downloading the appropriate software.
@dakluck i must have read your posts a hundred times trying to get this figured out! I'm hopeful you get it working too. Here is the ECU info for both -
Just did an initial compare with my CCF and it looks like the only change on my side would be to disable high beams with 750 since mine are currently set to “fitted”.
MultiCAN-750 High Beam Lights
Any chance you can send me your current CCF so I can do a full compare?!
Hi, I'm interested in this topic too. I would make a summary of what's now on the table:
1. We are talking about upgrading from Standard to Premium and not to Matrix
2. When chosing the part, one need to pay attention to the region code according to this page otherwise there is a need to update the firmware to the headlight ECU. -> This is not very clear as previously some stated that even if you chose the right region, an update to the firmware of the headlight is still necessary, can someone confirm?
3. After the headlights are prepared (maybe by also installing the properly firmware) and installed, there is a need to update the configuration codes by using a specialised tool (Gap tool)
4. There is one user that reported that he managed to upgrade to premium by using some headlights taken from eBay. I believe that they altered the headlight firmware so it can work with the existing standard configuration - it is possible at least in theory. This would be the fastest route of having the update but are there any downsides?
What we are missing:
1. A clear path to upgrade to Premium. What model should we chose, what are the codes that are to be modified, what are the benefits of following a given path vs other
2. Tools an software to do the ECU firmware upgrade.
3. A path to upgrade to Matrix instead
4. People that can help (for free or with a cost but at our places and not going to a facility)
