Default 18” steel wheel conversion quote?

I got a quote from my dealer at about 8k (parts and labor) to do the brake conversion, 5 OEM white steel wheels, 5 Falken Wildpeak at/4. On my 2020 P400 110… it was about 3k higher than what I expected but wanted the check with this group on whether that was reasonable.

Whew!

Your expectations are spot-on with my experience in Atlanta.

I paid $1750 for 5 OEM steelies (black, off the Trek Edition trucks) from Lucky 8.

The two calipers were $1000 new from the dealer.

$1603 for 5 tires, installed by Discount Tire Cooper Discover RT 255/75-18 (or is it 255/70? Whatever the stock tire size in 18 is)

$280 (2 hours) labor for the mechanical caliper changeout. From The Shop, a local Land Rover exclusive shop.

$140 (1 hour) labor for the reprogramming the computer to accept the caliper change. From The Shop.

$4773 Total.This was in spring of 2022. Inflation adjusted that's $5185 today.

You could save yourself about $4000

5 18” alloy wheels that will fit without spacers $1800. (There are many options)
5 tires of your choosing $1800

an angle grinder and flpppy disc set $150

An hour or so of your time to trim the brakes $0

~$4000

the OEM steelies will require spacers at additional cost to be factored in and may still need a little trimming. Again more potential labor costs.

You're right, I forgot the spacers. Rear only, so you only need one set. And I still had to grind a little bit. I would just grind enough to not need the spacers, but dang-it, I like the stance with the rears kicked out an inch.

(Neighbor's Jeep, not mine.)

I thought it was the fronts that needed the spacers, rear a little trim. I've seen some pictures of the steelies on the P400 front brakes and it's tighter than a fish's rear end given the OEM offset at +41.5

On mine the rears rub, fronts don't, without spacers.
