19 inch or 20 inch

Regarding 19 over 20... The difference in sidewall height is .51"
Very hard to say that will be significantly different in regards to ride. Other tire characteristics such as load rating and weight would make a larger difference in the real world.
If I was looking at either of those choices I would go with the 20 due to the sheer variety of choices. That 19" wheel is just too limited for choice.
FWIW I agonized for days over rim size when I ordered mine. I was lucky enough to be able to spec 18's for mine.

Thanks for the tire info. Didn't know it existed, will have to read some reviews. I haven't tried this specific one, however have had Pirelli Scorpion all seasons (aka no seasons) in the past and they were rubbish in winter. Prefer Nokian or X-Ice. Thanks for the pointer.

I think the 19" rim is going to be the long term winner for multi purpose buyers (want some off road and yet mostly on road). I am happy you posted about a new tire for the 19" rim. The Defender is selling like crazy, winning all types of awards, and maybe it's one of those things where once there's a Defender out there needing treads for the 19"s, then the tire companies make them. But if Defender didn't sell well, maybe they wouldn't have. I am getting ready to order a new 110, and will most likely go with the 19". Even if the 20" has more tire choices, at the end of the day, you can't get around losing about a half inch of sidewall protection by picking the more popular 20"s

So the popularity of the Defender doesn't translate into popularity of the 19" wheel. 2008 called and wants its top wheel back.
