Default 19 inch or 20 inch

Placed an order for a P400 SE.

Still have some time to amend the order, and wondering if I should stick with the 20" wheels or drop it down to 19" wheels. I won't push the Defender to its limits, but may take it light off-roading (but no rock crawling).

Anyone with the 20" wheels wish they got the 19" instead? Any reason to have the 20" over the 19" wheels?

Avoid the 19", no Tire choice at all

Yep ... No idea why JLR offers the 19" on its premier off-road vehicle without making sure to tell folks they are not recommended due to tire market off-road lack of availability. They did the same on the LR4 ( very frustrating).

Woulda been so much better to tell the engineers to come up with a rear caliper that fits inside the various 18” offerings for the P300 while still delivering all the balanced braking the 400 needs in extreme situations. Guarantee that could have been done without compromising braking performance one bit. They know that people (few though they may be) who actually want to seriously off-road a new Land Rover will choose the Defender, and that they are likely to want both the Inline 6 and the most tire they can fit, which means the least wheel that will clear brakes. Bad choice on their part not to make sure that combo can be chosen. Good offroad tires in 18” fitments are plentiful because of the 2007-2018 JK Wrangler Sahara coming with 18s.

Thanks for all the input. Will stick with the 20" wheel size.

I'm not advanced with off-roading, so I know Land Rover recommends 255/60R20 tire size, but it seems like it can accommodate tires that aren't just that tire size?

Yes you can, I’ve fitted the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 275/55 R20 on with no rubbing issues! 🙏🏼

Awesome, I was looking at that on the forum and some users mentioned possible rubbing so I wasn't sure if that would be a go. Any chance you can send a photo of your wheels/tire setup? I currently have the silver stock wheels, but now am thinking maybe the satin grey finish.

We purposely ordered the 19" over the 20" for more sidewall and even if the choices are limited they are sufficient for our uses (mostly on-road, but off-road is primarily beach/dunes - sugar sand in the OBX and NJ pinelands). No regrets for our use even with the road biased Scorpions.

@aao4473 you have any more pics of how the discoverers look on your rig? Seems like looks are the only downside of the Cooper's. I was set on getting the ko2's until reading this, Infact they would already be on my truck if the set I ordered hadn't been lost in transit. Chance also has it that the at3 4s is on a massive 40% off sale at my local Tire store, making them literally half the price of the KO2's, sounds like it's meant to be.
