The 2.1.6 OTA software update took place without any notifications or the usual messages asking to update, lock the car and leave for 30 mins. This was a behind the scenes update, and whilst I cannot see any visual changes to the pivi-pro system, I can report that finally the menus are responsive and snappy. No more hesitation or waiting for pages to load.
I received the update a few days ago as well. Didn't notice any obvious differences myself, including menus or data speeds. I was really hoping wireless CarPlay / Android Auto would be enabled, but alas no such luck with this version. Wireless CarPlay / Android Auto capability is here, but dealers need to upload a software patch in Pivi Pro to enable that feature - which lots of us are waiting for. Current OTA updates do not turn it on, although that may hopefully change in the future once LR tests that wireless is stable enough to beam down to everyone.
I had to re-authorize Spotify after the 2.1.6 update for some reason, somehow the app had uninstalled on its own. Took only a few seconds to do that but, once again, I see no clear differences in before-and-after app UI and performance.
Love, love my Defender but am a tiny bit disappointed that there hasn't been a single new feature released on Pivi Pro during the near year I've had the vehicle. The point of OTA updates is not just for bug fixes / stability. I'm still waiting for lane centering -- there's an icon in the instrument cluster for it...
They did add a couple of new tricks... One I remember was the wake-up word for the voice recognition system - wasn't there a year ago. Makes me think they might add Alexa integration soon (like on the new 22 Range Rover). Does the new Range Rover offer lane centering or only lane departure warning? We stand more chances of these features trickling down onto our system if they are available on the flagship.

Yes, it's available in the RR family already -- you can get it in current model year Velar, Sport and Full Size RR
Just took delivery of my MY2022 Defender X-Dynamic SE, and still reading up on all the features. Looking at the previous comments, I see the screenshot where it says ‘Your vehicle software is up to date’ and below it gives the software version and the date it was downloaded. Mine just says the part about being up to date, but does not reference the version or the date it was installed. How do I check to see which version I am running?

Don’t worry - you’ll see that message until you get your first update. The message you’re seeing now is the one you see when you’re running the software version that came with your vehicle. As soon as you get your first OTA update, you’ll see something like the screenshot. It took a few weeks after delivery for most of us to get the first OTA update.
Thank you for your response, it seems there is more information on this forum than the dealership can provide.
You’re more than welcome. Also, check out this post I made a while back, it contains info on the software updates from a JLR employee who posted it in the new Defender Facebook group.
