Default 20" matte grey 5098 wheels

I'm destroying my stock wheels (matte grey 5098 20's). Buying a spare set of alloys to run during trail season (swap on / off store in garage / etc)... annoying to swap but better than me rolling around with curbed wheels (a ridiculous pet peeve of mine as a car guy). On a silver wheel, you wouldn't see the scrapes. On these training grays... every rock hit looks the part.

How in the name of all that is sacred and holy does one refinish or touch up these wheels? Seems no one can figure out a color code or will commit to matching the color (good shops... not the mobile guys).

Dealer's guy said he could refinish them in black or another color grey, but couldn't possibly match the brownish-grey color and exact matte finish on these stock X wheels. Dealer and LR don't have a color code.

PS wheels aren't my only probs lol

Wheels in question (before I thrashed them)

You really should look after your wheels more.

I hate to think what my 20"s would look like.

(spoiler alert, they're also beat up to hell but I have a wheel protection plan I haven't used. )

Maybe continue to use those as trail wheels and get a second set of take-offs for when trail season is over. Like these or similar on ebay motors:

I have a second set of wheels for both our Defenders that have winter tires mounted on them. The winter road salt and potholes can be as abusive on wheels as off road trails.

This is the route I took. Found a set of 5 advertised for $1200, got him down to $900 (a couple of them had a touch of curb rash, which didn't matter to me because of my intended use, but the seller didn't need to know that. ). Bought TPMS OEM units made by VDO (the ones I bought have part number LR070840) and LR lug nuts from Land Rover Hunstville who had the lowest price on originals that I could find. Mounted Mickey Thompson Baja on them. Still yet to put them on the car (lug nuts have not arrived), but already planning an off road trip.

Hahaha. Well my hope is that I will completely ignore the state of my Offroad-trail wheels with a spare set ! Good job on yours. That's about how mine look now.

They match the paint better this way.
