sorry to hear the window incident.

i never pay "doc fee" on any car that i buy. i always ask them to remove it. "doc fee" is like "ad fee" or "admin fee" that i consider "junk fee". so as far as i am concerned, they are not waiving it, they are removing it because it should not be there to begin with. charging "doc fee" is like going to a restaurant and being charged "check/bill" fee when you settle the check/bill.

i would walk away as a brand new car fresh out of the factory that you ordered is no longer fresh with a replaced window/door right off the bat. but that's a personal preference. good luck!

I guess on the positive side, they were honest enough to tell you about it. I once had a coworker pick up his Camry from Firestone and they commented what a great job the body shop did in welding a new trunk onto the unibody. He bought it brand new and needed new tires after 40K accident-free miles. Went back to confront the dealer and they confessed that they dropped it off the car carrier onto it's trunk.
On the negative side, you deserve a reasonable solution in the next 2 weeks. They should either take a new door off a vehicle on the lot or ship a new door via FedEx Freight from the factory. Any solution that takes longer than 2 weeks and you should just order another one from a different dealer. The plant is running about 5 weeks ahead of schedule. I ordered in October and was promised an early March delivery. Now it arrives the last week in January.

I appreciate all the feedback from everyone, it’s been very helpful. I emailed the dealership GM this morning telling him I will not be purchasing that defender from him. I also said that I am willing to do business with them understanding the issue was not his fault. I asked him for some options on how we can facilitate a new deal, no response yet. My thoughts, not shared in my email, get a list of what is coming in over the next month, order a new one, or they should search dealerships for something close to what I ordered and I can say yes or no and do a dealer trade, or give me my deposit back and I can be on my way.

I had similar issue on lesser expensive car. Went to pick up Jeep Cherokee - and in prep, they ripped off a metal dealer sticker which I didn't want on back. They pulled paint off the tailgate and said I am not taking the car. They simply found another vehicle and swapped the tailgate. When on as new and never had an issue. Factory paint matched perfectly. My guess is they repainted tailgate and put demo tag on other car. Here - it is simply replacing a window which isn't a big deal. They just have to take off a sellable car for 10 weeks or so.

Hello everyone! Well, my dealership located an almost exact replica of my build, only thing different is that this one they found has the moonroof, which I deleted from my build. I told them I would take it and I wanted all the fees waived and front Windows tinted for free. We all agreed and everyone was satisfied.

You'll like the moonroof, adds quite a bit of light and "spaciousness" to the interior, especially a dark colored one. Well done.
