That vibes with what my dealer is telling me, that they are reopening the ordering bank for the Defender the second/third week of August.

Anecdotally, my dealer is saying they can’t even submit a new order until early/mid August

My defender was just built on 7/14. That does not seem to jive if the plant was closed. FWIW I have a vin number and the status lists "into port of exit or local compound."

Same here. VIN confirmed 7/23

I can't imagine Nitra are submitting VINs to the NTHSA without there being a physical vehicle with a number stamped on the chassis. Maybe I lack imagination.

How do you get the status of the vehicle? If you have a link, that would be really helpful.

The status I referenced is from the vista order sheet my sales rep provided me. I believe you can track the status yourself using https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topi...cle/lookupForm but I am not sure how you get an account or what it costs.

Not sure where in the PNWonderland you are but I'm in Kirkland. I'll reach out to my dealer. Cheers. Thanks for the info and link

Maybe when JLR said they were stopping production in Nitra, they meant they were stopping new vehicle production and vehicles that had already been started would continue to be built.

I am in Portland.

Curious what your delivery date is and if you can find out what ship you will be on? The Traviata is leaving today and the Oberon leaves next week.

Yes. That's what they emailed dealers at the end of June. "Limited production" through at least July 9 into the shutdown.

October 1 is listed in the purchase order so I guess it will be a while yet before it hits the high seas. It only got its VIN 7/23 so who knows how long till it hits the road from Nitra. Dealer said he'd update me with ship info once its aboard.
