2022 HSE 110 dealer says 22” wheels won’t work but his
Picking up a new 2022 defender 110 and the dealer wants 9500 bucks for 22” wheels and tires. That seems like an insane amount for wheels and tires. I found a ton online I like for a few thousand bucks and so I told the dealer I would just get my own aftermarket and his response was other aftermarket 22s aren’t going to work and would rub on the brake calipers.
not sure I believe that and it seems like he’s just trying to sell me overpriced wheels and tires.
Can someone confirm this and or recommend some 22s I can buy that will for sure fit and not rub?
any help is appreciated

If the vehicle comes with 20” wheels, then going up to 22” wheels would provide MORE brake clearance not less.
Typical dealer salesman ignorance while trying to sound smart (or more likely, just trying to boost commission).
If you’re concerned, I would just go to a reputable tire/wheel shop and tell them what you want. If there’s any problems with clearance, they can change out the configuration and try something else.
PS. My aftermarket wheels DID contact the (aftermarket) brake calipers. The shop simply ground down the calipers - not a big deal.

My sales guide confidently told me numerous things that were incorrect, with many instances of it having nothing to do with trying to sell me on something. The day I picked up the defender I told him I was excited to have the activity key as I hate carrying car keys and he told me that I would still need the key in the car. It was almost like he had to be the one who thought he knew everything.
