Default 2023 Defender 10k miles service

Hi,
the Land Rover app on my phone tells me to schedule service at my earliest convenience as I’ve hit 10k miles.

Do I really need to as I read somewhere that oil change is not before 20k miles.

What is your experience with 10k miles service at your local dealer. I’m in the Charlotte, NC area.

Thanks.

It would not hurt the Defender to get an oil and filter change at 10k miles, even though the owner's manual says to do it at 20k. A lot of folks out here change their oils more frequently than recommended. It all depends on the type of usage and driving you do as well. When the time comes, it will say service due or service now.

Hmm, maybe something new? Never got any such notification on the 2022 at 10k, at least none that I recall. I'd have to dig through old posts to find out, anyway maybe my memory is bad. I want to say I had the 20k done at around 15 or 18k probably while it was in for other reasons. I believe that's the only maintenance I had done until well after 20k.

You've probably hit the time interval rather than the mileage one? Is it 20k miles or annual? Or did they shift to a 2-year interval now? If you've done 10k and it has been a year or more then if seems like the right time to me.

That is probably the case. I believe the time interval is still one year, and it should be. I would not want to keep the same oil in the car for two years.
