I’m looking to put together a collection or spare fuses in my repair kit. I have the spare ‘blade’ fuses, however I’m confused as to what the other ones are called (the 25, 30 and 40s in the picture attached. FWIW, I can’t find these listed in my fuse diagrams.
Does anyone know what these type are called and what components/system they protect?
The shot is from the load space fuse box on a 2024 V8 Carpathian Edition.
They are also called "Current Limiters." They protect main bus circuits and very high load items. Really carrying a spare one is of little or no value. If one of those puppies blows, you have much bigger issues and simply replacing it will not solve anything but waste another pricey electrical component. You're really going to need service and some severe troubleshooting. Things like shorted alternator or fused starter motor cause things like that to blow. So reality you would need to carry the underlying component that caused it to blow in the first place. Kind of like when we carried a spare tail flasher on the Twin Otter in the field. Yeah, small halogen bulb. Small issue, it was 65' off the ground! How in the heck where we supposed to hummingbird up there to replace it on the ramp in Cold Bay. Some stuff is just best done in a facility equipped to deal with such stuff. Means your truck is most likely going to be towed from where it failed.
