Default 2023 Defender 110 New Wheels Question.

Hi All,

New member here, Just bought Defender 110 X Dynamic v6, and coming from Tyota 4runner.

I just got a new set of rims and tires, Went with 20" wheels ( Black Rihno Axel ) and Toyo Tires 275/55/20 ( no rubbing at all )

The question i have is tire/wheel shop had to remove these two ( Please see attached pic ) pieces from the front left and right side brake calipers in order to fit the wheels. I did some reading and looks like they are mud scappers. can someone please clarify these are not really necessary

Thank you in advance

Not sure what they are for, my guess was a dampener of sone sort.

I’ve removed a few without any adverse effects.

I've heard them mostly referred to as mud scrapers, but in any case, many have been removed without issue.
