The potential is there for a real face ripper. If supply returns fast enough that people decide, en masse, to stop paying original sticker for 4 year old Mazdas, some serious regret will set in. All these 5-7 year loans on deeply underwater sh*tboxes are going to look a lot like a hot-greased version of the housing plunge in '09.

Nothing worse than a big loan for something that's not even under warranty. Most people eventually suffer from problems of their own making.

I’m 6th in line to order, was told allocation is in January. $2500 refundable deposit plus a decent markup which I’m still trying to lower.
I’m in the exact same position- says Jan allocations are announced around Jan 18 - where are you? I’m in St Louis.

Out west in Northern California here. So now I wonder if they're taking turns by country, and the U.S. is in January? Who knows.

FWIW, I was told by my dealer that they weren't expecting another allocation until February. They haven't had one since October which I find hard to believe but I don't know of any way to verify. I placed an order in September, had to start over due to the whole '22 to '23 model year nonsense, and am still waiting to get out of purgatory.

Don't think its based on country. I just put in my order a few weeks ago and got a build date already for February and I'm in AZ. I think it's just based on dealership. The big volume dealerships throughout the US probably get prioritized and then the second and third tiers get a few batches per year. There are 3 local dealerships here and 2 of them have told me that they haven't had allocations for months and it could take a year or two to get my hands on one. The big dealership got me an allocation pretty much immediately...

If you have any other dealerships within a reasonable range go check them out as well! Maybe get lucky...

Got my allocation today and vehicle ordered. The build date is scheduled for April 13th, build complete date scheduled for May 13th and should have my Defender by July 13th. Ordered out of Dallas.
