You have been able to get the mate protective film this entire time, it's just available on select colors only.

 

It may be to comply with updated Nox emissions which Europeans are very sensitive towards because of bad air quality? Turbo engines and high temperatures come to mind.

The UK builder is already live, although no prices. Looks like they have cut down on color options. We are down to Fuji White, Pangea, Tasman, Gondwana, black, carpathian and silicon silver.

 

I do wonder how much of these upgrades will be retrofit available. I like the changes to the center console storage.
