23 Defender Idle Engine Rumble/Shake
Has anyone had an issue when their Defender is just sitting at a stoplight where the engine or the car sort of jolts or gives a slight shake or rumble. It doesn’t seem normal. Hard to describe.
Same thing happens with me. I wonder if I can slightly increase the idle speed with a gap tool.
I can’t say for sure about this specific issue, but I once had a similar experience with my Audi. The engine wasn’t running smoothly at idle—it was jumping and acting strange, and it was clear that something was wrong. I spoke to the service center, and they suspected the issue might be related to only doing short trips with the car, preventing the DPF filter from completing a proper regeneration cycle (it was a diesel engine).
They recommended driving at 90 km/h for at least 30 minutes to allow the filter to regenerate properly. I followed their advice, and sure enough, the engine started running normally again, with no more idle issues.

I get a decent amount of NVH at startup occasionally on my P300, but goes away quickly. The AJ200 I4 in the Defender is by far the smoothest and most refined application of this engine. I have been in pre-facelift F-Paces and Evoques with the same engine and they were so unrefined, rough and loud, regardless if you were idling or driving along.
