Has this already been discussed? Looks like there's no more 4 or 6 cylinder option on the 90, only V8. This more than doubles the price! My 2025 D90 P300 S has a base of $57k. I love it, but not for Cayenne money. I would be scared to take it offroad lol
Yes, the core models have been discontinued in the US. The 90 was always a niche model, and because of that, the V8 ended up being the most popular version of the 90 in the US market. I'm honestly surprised they took this long, but it is a shame, as the core 90 models were perfect for off-roading. The V8 with the gloss lower trim, 22" wheels and low profile tires aren't ideal, and the color options are limited.
JLR should've taken a page from Volvo's book and offer the 90 as special-order only, as Volvo did with the regular (non-Cross-Country) V60 & V90 wagons.
That's a gorgeous spec - I've always liked the Pebble Grey interior over the Chalk interior they use in all other models now. Here's mine - one of the things I did was have satin PPF installed on the console. Absolute game changer.
I have a 24 90 V8 and its great. Lots of 4 wheeling in Uwharrie with it. I have 20s with 33s and the whole truck is wrapped. Haven't had any issues with the trim. Does suck though that they abandoned the other engines. I agree special order would have been the more appropriate way to go.
Yes. A sad day when i heard this. I understand why they are making these decisions. We are not buying enough of these models. Same goes for the 18 inch wheel option. Its gone also. Earlier we lost the option not to have a sunroof and cloth interior. Its really unfortunate that JLR can not have one proper spec off roader in the lineup for the folks that want to actually run trails in a base level vehicle even through it would not sell like hot cakes. As mentioned above, why not offer the ability to special order? It seems they are talking about embracing the heritage, but proceed to market tonwheat we actually want to buy. Shiny vehicles built for the road with large wheels and huge engines. But it is what the consumer is buying, so its a mixed bag. Look at the Octa. They claim it is the best off roader they have ever built primarily due to the 6d suspension. Then when its time to run it in Dakkar, rip all of that out and put in coilover suspension in it. Why not offer a Dakkar version of the Octa to the public that is a no nonsense off roader? I believe the new defender was so successful because it was so versatile and customizable. Initially JLR realized that the overland / off road market was really helping the brand bring new blood into the scene. Now for some reason they no longer actually want to build vehicles for that purpose. Time will tell.

Oh that's a great idea! Enjoy the Macan and don't ever get rid of it. I had the latest Cayenne, it's just not as good, and all the f*cking screens are driving me insane (and I work in IT, so that's saying something lol)

If you do end up applying the PPF, make sure the installer doesn't use a ton of water. It's unlikely, but still possible for water to get under the panel and short it out - I've seen it happen and wouldn't want to deal with that.
That's the plan - have no intention of getting rid of it anytime soon. Planning on adding a 981 Boxster S in the near future. I really like the new Cayenne, but agree the tech is unnecessary, and I don't think it drives as well as the Macan. The PDK in the Macan is better than the ZF 8HP in the Cayenne, plus it's a lot lighter, has better steering feel, and is more nimble. It's as close as a sports car as you can get in an SUV.
