Default A Pillar weatherstripping - Noise reduction

Hey all,
A few weeks ago I was poking around AliExpress looking at the 11.4” screen upgrade and then looking at very oem looking power retractable steps that have the oem module, harness and gets activated through the pivi screen and then came across these a pillar weatherstrip noise reduction pieces.
Found them on Amazon for around $15 and figured I would give it a go. I’ve always had the noise that sounds like sand coming off a truck in front of me sandblasting my windshield on the highway…. When there are no cars in sight. Then came to realize it was a normal issue, and have learned to ignore it as I didn’t want to modify the a pillar trim in such a way that makes it near impossible to remove (glue or loads of double sided tape, etc).

They took about 2 weeks to arrive from China and I threw them on. They are pretty heavy for what they are pieces of rubber with double stick tape. I got them to sit pretty nicely under the a pillar without removing them, and got them secured. I’ve been on the highway a few times since installing them and completely forgot to pay attention for the noise, BUT when I just remembered they were there, they haven’t flown off yet, so that’s a plus.

Will have to report back next time I’m in highway to see if there is any noise reduction or not.

I bought a set from Ebay a few months ago and they've been great. They haven't fallen off, and the wind noise has decreased substantially. Well worth it IMO, and if they last a year before falling off, I'll be happy.

The A pillar noise is very annoying. I had it on my 2020 and heard it right after I purchased it and left the dealership. It took the dealer 4 different attempts to get rid it and I could still hear the sand noise hitting the car. I traded it on a 2022 V8 Carpathian Edition and it did not have that noise. My 2023 Defender (totaled) did not have it either, and my 2025 Defender is good so far.

Well hot diggity. How interesting. I shall buy a set. My noise isn’t bad - at all - but I do get a little slight sand-blasting noise every now and then from my right a-pillar.

I am on my 4th passenger a-pillar on this car... two replacements under warranty, one I ripped off in Moab somehow.

Question: Do you remove the existing rubber strip on the a-pillar? (no, right, I don’t see how that would be feasible or a good idea...)

There wasn't any weather stripping, at least not on mine, which had been replaced already. It just fits in the gap between the trim and the windshield. Be sure to properly clean the area off with an alcohol wipe before adhering the rubber strip.

My original a pillar trims did have a small piece of rubber inset quite a bit, I did not remove that, and I had just recently removed the a pillar trim pieces to do my spark plugs, in the process the bottom trim pieces tabs got cracked and I glued them back together with jb plastic weld, so I didn’t want to take them off again for fear of further breaking the mounting tabs on those little pieces. I was able to slide th new rubber into place and the peel the tape back while in place. I thought for sure they would fly off on first drive but so far so good. If they fly off oh well, would be pissed if it half flies off and then starts whipping and scratches the paint though, lol.

Had my A pillar trim ppieces replaced as it is a common issue (hearing the sand noise which was basically flex in the plastic vibrating from highway wind) . seems to have stopped but for a year or so I put in regular weatherstripping and that worked as well.
