Default 535 Miles and Check Engine Light

Have 535 miles on my 2020 Defender and I get a lovely check engine light. it has been flickering on and off for a few days thought it was a glitch but now its solid. I love my Land Rovers and I am immune to this stuff but damn Owned a (2012 LR4, 2017 Disco sport, 2015 Range Rover and 2013 Range Rover). Got a loaner well see what it is. Had an odd clicking noise in the engine but maybe thats normal in these.

Anyone else had issues this soon?

We had one briefly in the first week, but it came and went with one or two ignition cycles (before the dealer would even agree to see it). I THINK it occurred right after a push update from LR but I'm not positive. It didn't come back so we never got the code read.

So Just heard back and they say it is a failed purge valve. Ordering part and will be in on friday. Hopefully this isnt the start of a long list of checks engine issues.

Did they give you the DTC? or did you pull it? My P400 threw a P144B which was decoded as a blocked EGR purge valve. However there is a TSB from JLR on this. The cold-air intake, which is the destination of the EGR purge, seems to have been designed with some low and high-pressure areas. One of the high-pressure areas is near the purge valve exhaust port.

In my case the dealer reset the CEL and ordered a new cold-air intake, which supposedly fixes the issue. That was 5 weeks ago, haven't heard if the part is available and/or in the country (USA). I've had the same code thrown a couple of times since, it resets after 3 or 4 restarts.

I have the exact same issue as you. They told me part is set to arrive in England 4/14 and should be in US 4/30. Since it’s a known manufacturer defect they have produced extra for stock.

he showed me the bulletin. It’s on all models built around our time but not all models have the sensor triggering.
