8 months ownership, Rubicon comparison
I've had my D90 and am just now getting to use it on some of the local trails as the snow is melting. We had a 4dr Rubicon before this, and my wife was very nervous in it. After riding in the Defender, we've found it's so much smoother than the Rubicon. This seems to be making my wife much less nervous. Now I'm sure the Rubicon has a bit more off-road capability, but I'm pleased with the quite ride (truck and wife)!
I would have never thought the road manners would matter so much off-road. Just makes for a more enjoyable experience. Something for those considering a Defender.

First post here. I sold my lifted, heavily modified 2016 Wrangler Sahara two weeks ago, and got my Defender last week. I got the 2022 X Dynamic SE in Carpathian. I was really worried when I sold the Jeep, but I couldn't be more pleased with the Defender. This thing is a dream to drive, and I am not looking back. The Jeep is a handful to drive especially at speed. I have experienced a death wobble a few times and it was terrifying.
Last winter on a 3+ hour drive to ski in VT, I noticed it was a little windy. My 2 friends that drove up in Wranglers were both complaining for days how exhausted their arms were from wrestling the Wrangler steering wheel in high winds on that same drive. The Defender is so solid I barely noticed the high winds.
Traded a perfect totally loaded (fuel wheels/custom napa leather interior etc) '19 JLU for our 110SE...My wifes DD.
Only thing positive about the Jeep....Got $6500 less than we paid for it 4.5 years ago! Other than that, it was not a nice automobile. Period.

I sold my 2020, rubicon JL, while it was definitely nicer than the older Jeeps and could be driven as a daily, it wasn’t tickling my fancy. I picked my 110s up on Saturday and it’s way ahead of build quality.
Might have longevity issues in the long run because it’s a JLR product, but worry about that when I cross that bridge.

have owned multiple wranglers (including CJs and JK rubicon) over the years. have also owned multiple land rovers (including '93 defender, discos, rr sport, and current defender). besides most of them being very capable offroad vehicles, i never really found much in common between my jeep experience and my land rover experience (excepting the older defender which i only owned briefly).
every jeep i ever owned (all lifted and spec'd for trails) was a blast off road, but pretty miserable or "meh" on road. cheap materials, lots of plastic, rattles, bouncy, loud, etc. and every rover i owned was almost equally adept off road (sport excluded) but WAY better on road (old defender excluded). Just tighter, cleaner, more comfortable, and way more solid and refined all around.
To the OP's point, i do have to say, sometimes I feel my current defender is almost too nice and too well mannered to take off road and push the limits (something i never felt in a jeep), but that feeling goes away pretty quickly once I hit the dirt and start to play.
