Default adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist not working

hello

i have been driving my defender 2020 for few weeks now and i am unfortunately not surprised of the problems i have encountered.

adaptive cruise control works for about 15 minutes then shuts off and become “not available” i tried every button sequence, you have to stop turn the car off and maybe it works again... even when works acts very rough and it doesn’t feel safe

lane keep assist doesn’t recognize any road and is not working at all. not much to say about this point....

consequently a message for emergency brake not available appears on the screen

touch screen is very slow and freeze for few minutes here and there. inconsistent ...

the rear passenger interior door trim came off just by touching it

these are the major issues i have anyone has any similar problems?

over all i have been trying to enjoy the new car that looks great like most land rover but i am tired of these kinks that a company of this should sort out before releasing new models...

contacted the dealership to have an appointment and it’s 2 1/2 weeks from now...
this is not an enjoyable costume experience at all.

Hi DyM,

My vehicle doesn't have the adaptive cruise control but it does have the lane keep assist. The lane keep assist works well in my Discovery, but I really don't like it in the Defender--sometimes it almost seems like it turns your vehicle in the wrong direction, so I have been keeping the lane keep assist off for the past 2 weeks.

Previously, I would ALWAYS wait at least 1 year after a new model came up so all the kinks could be worked out. This is my first time buying a new edition but I went into it knowing there would be a ton of kinks (and got the extended warranty for that reason also). It's annoying but I still love the vehicle. I am finding there are a lot of electronic gremlins but hopefully many can be fixed with over the air updates. What color is your Defender?

Ha! I thought the same thing. Mostly when I am turning around a bend - it feels like it is pulling the car towards the line, but hugging it. I took my hands off the wheel and it doesn't pull it over the line, it seems to just hug it.

Hi Braden, yes, mine does the same thing. It's definitely most noticeable when turning around a bend -- it does feel like it is pulling the vehicle towards the line. Glad to know that my vehicle isn't the only one that does that.

hello

I have a HSE 400 in pangea green black interior and dark wood trim. it is a beautiful car.

i noticed it doesn’t turn the engine off at the stop/traffic light, i have to investigate what is that.

i am curious to know if you can browse thru FM station using the steering control buttons.
mine doesn’t

....this brings back memories of my LR3 always at the shop and my current discovery 2004 with the tre amigos always present. so this month i will have to bring both cars to the shop for repairs ...
good thing my 62’ chevy truck is always running. no computer kinks there for sure...

Your auto start/stop may be functioning correctly. From the owners manual:

The following conditions inhibit an auto stop:
  • The external temperature is less than approximately -4°C.
  • The external temperature is more than approximately 40°C.
  • The engine or other vehicle systems have not reached their optimum operating temperatures.
  • The driver's seat belt is unbuckled.
  • Demand from the climate control system requires the engine to be running, e.g., when in defrost mode.
  • The vehicle's battery charge is low.
  • The auto stop/start system is deactivated.
  • After reversing, the vehicle's speed has not exceeded 16 km/h (10 mph).

I also have the issue where the Lane Keep Assist seems to pull toward the left hand line, rather than riding between them. Commenting here mostly to see if anyone else ends up hearing of a resolution for this.

I have not heard of a resolution yet. The lane keep assist is much more heavy handed compared to my Discovery. I think it is borderline dangerous how heavy handed it is and the way it pulls you towards the left lane line. I tried using it again yesterday to see if I could get used to it, but I could not. Hopefully it is something that can be fixed w/ the over the air updates but not sure. In my Discovery, with the lane keep assist, I think I have 2 options: your steering wheel can vibrate if you are drifting vs. actual minor course correction (vehicle steers you away from the line). I couldn't seem to find the vibration option in the Defender--I would be OK with that until there is a fix.

Would love to see pics of the pangea green. In the dealership, I saw a Gondwana Stone that looked amazing. I do like the Indus Silver. A member posted pics of the Tasman Blue--which may be my favorite so far. Not sure if any of the members have posted pangea green pics yet.

I got my Defender 110 P300 the beginning of October -this is an item I described exactly as you did to dealer but they were unable to find anything wrong. With 2.0.4 update a lot of software glitches went away and I thought for a bit that LKA was better especially on a curve. Now today I don’t think so. It might be slightly less heavy handed when gently drifting over but it is about right if it is a more definite deviation across a line. Strange- will use this feature very sparingly-though when I turn loose it does seem to hug the line. Then the hands off wheel symbol comes on
