If you are referring to the box in the LOADSPACE, passenger side, that is called a fuse box. It is in the manual, which is the first thing an owner should read when buying a vehicle. While awaiting delivery of my Defender, I downloaded the manual and read it cover to cover, so that by the time I took delivery I knew more than the salesman, who was unable to answer the majority of my questions. Good reading and you get to actually learn about your vehicle. It’s ’pure non-fiction’.
If you're referring to the one on the driver's side, I'm pretty sure that is the Rear Cooling Assist, which is basically a separate A/C unit for the third row/cargo space.
Also maybe you have the auxiliary on-board air compressor (like for inflating tires etc). That's also a silver box on the driver side. Pictured here (I stole someone's picture, not mine!). So in the picture, the left (rearmost) is the auxiliary air compressor, on the right is the rear HVAC box.

LOL...brings me back to the nasty condescending Audi S4 forum members that would simply reply to questions with "RTFM".
I am very much for being helpful, friendly, courteous, kind and all other Boy Scout things, but at times RTFM is an appropriate reply. There are so many people who want to be spoon-fed that it is mind boggling.
