re P300 v P400- I drove both. Didn't see a big enough benefit to the bigger engine relative to the cost. I found that the P300 was more than adequate.
Have driven my P300 27k miles in about 9 months and have had no issues with power when offroad or on the road when overtaking on mountain passes etc. I think it's the one to have especially if you're a little budget conscious (I was).

Unless you are towing large trailers the P300 is "perfectly" adequate for most folks, IMHO. She will pick up her skirts and run when you mash the pedal!

Do you have a p300 and have towed with it? I haven't towed yet but there is a chance I will start towing around 3k pounds with it regularly. Wondering what that's like if you have? I got the tow pack etc not sure it that makes it any easier/more manageable.

No just a bike rack. Looking at a small overland type camper perhaps.

I have a P300 and tow a Trailex aluminum trailer (800lbs) and a race car (Toyota 86 - 3,000lbs loaded with fuel jugs/tools etc). So safe to say closer to 4,000lbs and going up and down light hilly areas (towards Watkins Glen, NY from DC) or flat roads are not an issue. Can cruise up to 90MPH but more so around 75-80MPH withou any issues. Passing is perfectly fine too.

I came from Jeep Cherokee EcoDiesel and this vehicle has more oomph during towing but you need to get past 4K to really extract most out of it if you want to pass. Power is adequate. I get around 14MPG while towing.

Awesome thanks! Good to know, I will be towing a Spec Miata so should be a similar experience.

I have a 2020 110 P300 approaching 40K miles.

Before buying my Defender, in 2019, I calculated (and posted on this site) a weight vs. horsepower analysis of comparable vehicles that suggested we would likely feel that we might be a bit underpowered as we crossed the 4000 lb to 5000 lb trailer load. At that time, I resolved to keep my V8 LR4s, in case I ended up towing 7000 lbs. for long distances.

Since, receiving my P300 I have towed quite a bit at all weights up to 7500 lbs. I confirmed that above 5000 lbs. in mountains, executing a full throttle pass at interstate speeds begins to require conservative gap planning. But no other concerns than that.

The most interesting learning is that I actually prefer the Defender as a towing platform to the excellent, highly rated, very heavy LR4. The Defender is more stable and composed. Probably has something to do with the monocoque design, I suppose.

Enjoy!

Put in my order on 6/27 and just received my p300 yesterday. Initially it was supposed to arrive in December. I think my dealer in Miami is one of the higher volume dealers so maybe that’s why it came quicker. Love everything about it so far!
