Default Auto on/off

I wanted to confirm on this forum before talking to LR service. The pool of knowledge here far exceeds my local LR experts.

When the car turns off under Auto on/off, just like every other car, the engine rpms should reduce to zero? I’m getting the “A with cross line” indication on the dash but the rpms do not go to zero when in “auto-off” at idle.

Note: comfort mode; climate off; auto-hold disengaged. Thanks.

Hi,

Just making sure I understand: the auto stop start feature is not shutting the engine off and you get the green A with a line through it? I'm pretty sure that means it is not shutting off the engine. There are quite a few parameters that have to be met for the auto stop/start to work: battery level, climate control demands, ambient temp, drive mode... One must be keeping the system from shutting the engine off at stop lights.

I see. Thank you for the clarification. The A-with-cross line is indicating that something is inhibiting the active start/stop. I read through the manual and none of the listed indications apply. Will have to straighten it out at the dealer. Thank you again for the insight. Much appreciated!

Yes, particularly on a turbocharged vehicle -- hot turbos like to spin.

I try to turn it off every time I start the vehicle.

I suppose City MPG certification improvements, it might be worth 1/2 of a MPG or a bit more? It all adds up, I suppose.

Agreed, just annoyed its not working. Hopefully I don’t regret the fix.

My first thought was, wow! they did a real nice job on a seamless Auto on/off. Then realized it’s not even working 😅

On my D5 I unpluged the signal plug on the VQM and works like a champ.

Try it on yours, should be the same????

gmfain: Thanks for sharing the pdf document describing the battery and charging system. This is good info. to have.

are you saying disconnecting the signal line into the VQM disabled auto start or enabled it, for you?
