Base Terrain Response
I'm planning on getting the Terrain Response 2 option. My guess is most everyone in the USA will get this option for resale or the minimal cost to the overall price.
Having said that, I don't think I will ever use the automatic setting.
Does anyone know which settings come with the basic Defender and which settings are added with Terrain Response 2.
Just curious.

For, if the driver is misusing or confusing the computer using one of the set approaches, the system will flash on the screen the recommendation that you change to auto.
I received that warning twice and I have followed this auto first rule off-road since -- and I have to admit that the computer knew better, particularly where the ground I was covering was extremely variable. The vehicle drove better and was happier.
My only concern is that we cannot turn off Directional Stability Control (DSC), while in auto mode. So, I am LR4 old-school on this one, which is to say that when I am solely in serious deep snow, mud ruts or sand, I do not use Auto. The computer has not tried to correct me, yet.
I have not yet dived into the custom auto options -- I am really looking forward to do so, once I have the time to run some clear tests on that, dcoument it and pay close attention.
I stand corrected. I had checked on my phone last night and did not catch that it forced you to remove the off road package. Crazy.
The wheels look better in your pictures then on the website. Personally I think I am going to go with the 5098 wheels in grey.
I am still debating on what color interior to go with. Did you go with the stone exterior and black interior?

Yeah I wasn't even considering these rims until I saw them in person with those tires on them, the online configurator pictures are terrible, don't trust any of them, even my pictures don't do the rims justice. I went pangea green with khaki interior, maybe I'll regret the khaki, but I didn't want a greyscale car, to many greys and blacks out there on the road.
I test drove a 2020 HSE last week that had the khaki interior. Its more of a green then khaki. Someone had a post on here about khaki interior and it did not look green in their photos, but it looked green to me in person. I have been debating going with the khaki/ebony option but the acorn/ebony also looks good. I am considering heavy carpathian grey for exterior so not sure if I want a pop of lighter color inside or not...My current mercedes has all black interior....im bored of that...
The khaki/ebony option is super nice, definitely more of a olive green khaki for sure, if I wasn't set on a P300 I would definitely have done the x-dynamic trim with that interior. Infact if it was available with the P300 I would have paid for it. But the P300 forced the cloth on me, and kept $10k in my pocket, it's all a tradeoff. The P300 surprised me, I assumed it would feel underpowered, it really doesn't, and it has better throttle response and good low end torque. I was set on the P400 before test driving them, infact I almost didn't even bother trying it, glad I did.
Don't just take my word for it, test drive them both! Good to know I'm not the only one with that opinion. I've seen a few other people note the same thing in other forums.
The bank manager doesn’t want me to like the P400...
Last week I finally test drove both engines. I drove the p300 first. It had plenty of power but did not feel sporty. Some of that might have been psychological honestly, as I had been starting to think the p400 might be the better long term decision. I drove the p400 immediately afterword's and it felt and sounded like a more performance engine. The interior changes felt alot more substantial as well.
I have not yet submitted a build but the price that I have currently sitting in the online builder is substantially more expensive than what I had started out when building a p300 s model. I think that if the price on the s model was $15k to $20k cheaper my expectation of what I was buying would be different. At this point when I start reaching $60K+ I felt like the vehicle needed to be nicer in some of the other options that the lower models didnt include.
Here is my take. I originally wanted to go with a very utilitarian build in with the p300, probably in the S build.

Right? This is exactly what I said to the dealer. so the 20" style 6011 rims are apparently not available with the offroad tires. The Offroad package is the only way to get the rear locker in canada, and it includes offroad tires, which rules out the 6011 rims... I have not seen any explanation as to why, and have seen multiple defenders with aftermarket offroad tires fitted on these rims. So that is the line I was fed, and I wanted to get both, so you'd think they would take my money if they could. I have no idea what the actual reason is other than is simplifying the production line?
