The rack came with three tongues to accomodate a variety of tire sizes. I used the middle length option and there was plenty of thread. It feels very secure. No problem in my experience fitting on a Defender.

Did you have lots of thread left on the tongue for the **** to fit or was it close? Thanks.
Recently went with the 1UP Super Duty and Rack Attack to carry our mountain bikes out camping. Really just pleased as punch with how the solution worked out.
Looks great, do you remember what size you went with? Was that the medium or large?
I have questions, and I’m sweating over which bike rack to order. I’ve narrowed it down to the 1up Super Duty Single, or the Yakima Spareride. With the 1up, is the 7” extender enough to clear the rear tire? With the Spareride, is there any worry about putting the weight of the bike rack and 70 lbs of bikes on the rear door/hindge? Any input would be much appreciated!
I settled last season on the 1Up. I did have a bunch of grief on the extension as well. I had an offset extension, but it kind of put it where I didn't want it, too low or too high. So I looked at straight extensions. They were all too long, all I needed was 6". So I just made one from bits of others and some square tube. No need for the holes, since the 1Up's system uses friction fitting with a large steel ball extending out and jamming the rack in place. I didn't want it too far out there or it gets all waggy should the road be rough. I can do crummy welding when I have to.
I can’t seem to find something that fits the expedition rack, but I also think the roof might not be the best e bike option anyway considering the height of the vehicle.
I went ahead and purchased a Thule SpareMe Pro mount which was supposed to fit on the spare tire, but that didn't work out. My last option here is to get a hitch installed which is going to cost me another 2k most likely and a week lead time.
Wondering what everyone is using to carry their bikes on the new Defender?
Needs to accommodate 4 bikes, just started my search so any recommendations are warmly received
As many here probably agree, you can’t go wrong with a 1upusa rack. Will need their extension. For four bikes I would go for their vertical rack. You can do four bikes on their traditional rack, but it ends up sticking out so far I think it’s a hazard. I carry three on mine and that’s as many as I’d ever want back there. The vertical rack is much better for four or more. https://1up-usa.com/product-category...ks/recon-rack/

I agree, the 1upusa heavy duty rack is awesome. I bought it for 2 bikes plus their rack attach to extend it and swing it out of the way. If I need to carry 4 bikes, 2 go on Thule roof mounts and I bring along a 3 foot step ladder to reach them.
