Default "Black Exposed Rear Recovery Eyes" now available separately for 110S

While I wait for my 110S to arrive (in the US; was expected at dealer in July, now delayed to August while we wait for chips to arrive), I played with the Build Your Own tool again. To my surprise, the tow loops are now available as a separate $250 option; until now, they were only available with the Bright Exterior Pack (I believe - I can't re-create it now) for the 110S. I ended up ordering some red ones from Powerful UK, and I'll have to pay the dealer to take the bumper apart to install them - MUCH cheaper to just add $250 to the initial build.

Oh, well. At least there's one thing that's getting cheaper over time.

The bumper removal and loop install is really not that tricky. Here is one link but many more have done the same.

Even a ham-fisted idiot like myself can manage it. 2-3 hours if you're slow (like me). Under an hour if you've done it before I wager.

They are an absolute must have IMO and have already been put to use. $250 for new builds is absolutely the way to go.

I watched the Powerful UK video. I suspect I can do it, although it will probably mean a few runs to Home Depot and Pep Boys for the tools I don't yet have and some extra clips for the body panels, etc. That's always the case.

We'll see how ambitious I am. I might wait for one of my sons to come home on leave to help me with it.

Thanks,
Mike

It's very doable to remove the little bit of wheel arch you need to without damaging any clips or more importantly the plastic of the arch itself. I damaged one side a little bit after following the video's brutish removal. (Nothing a small bit of glue couldn't fix but there's a better way) and was much more delicate on the other.

Little projects are always a nice excuse to spend some quiet time in Home Depot and pick up some new tools. Best of luck with whatever route you go. Definitely get them. A real bacon-saver.

Wow I saw that when I was building mine but I thought it was to make the recovery hooks black, not that without choosing this option the recovery hooks are not exposed at all!

Yep. No rear off road recovery points as standard on JLR's revamped flagship iconic off-roader. It's insane.

It's not that they aren't exposed; there aren't any.

Very odd decision from JLR that these are not just standard on every model.

locking rear diff and recovery hooks as optional on the Defender is insane.

Recovery hooks should be standard. Locking rear diff is expensive, and from the videos I've seen, the truck does pretty well without it. I can see leaving that an option. I ordered it for mine, of course .

Received a text from my dealer rep that my order for a 110 P300 S had been accepted on 6/15/22. I had checked the latest configurator and noticed that including the tow hooks no longer required
adding the bright pack. The rep was able to include the tow hooks for $250.00 to the build.
