Local powder coat shop does lug nuts. I don’t like it because the powder coat adds thickness and the finish ends up getting damaged over multiple uses.

Ive tried all the solid black lugs on the market and the genuine LR black lugs are far superior.

For nearly 5 times the cost they should be although I've used Gorilla and McGard's on other vehicles and they've looked and function just as well as if not better than OEM in some cases.
I actually damaged the OEM locking lug on the spare because the dealer decided to torque it down to 8000ft/lbs. If it's damaged that quickly I cant really call it "superior".

The black finish on the OEM seems tougher than the others, to me.

Ive used impacts on the locking lugs without issue although another shop told me the ruined one using an impact. I think it’s all about having solid positive contact between the key and the lug.

My damage came from using a breaker bar. I always push in the socket while pushing down on the breaker bar.
Unfortunately the force was too much for the lug and it was damaged. I've gone to aftermarket lugs on nearly every vehicle Ive owned since I prefer black and cant say I've had an issue when using Gorilla/McGard.

Is your point that all aftermarket is inferior?
If so nothing can be further from the truth.

One example of a cheap Amazon product compared to OEM proves nothing.

Not at all. I’m sorry if that’s how I came off. Those are literally cheap Amazon ones. Not all aftermarket are the same. I’m showing 2 examples.
