Default Brake Controller

I was surprised that the towing pack did not include a brake controller. Who's towing and what controller are you using?

I installed the REDARC Tow-Pro Elite brake controller. You need the REDARC Ford/Lincoln suitable Tow-Pro Brake Controller Harness (TPH-006) as well. That harness will plug into a plug that is attached up the brake pedal. You have to remove the lower dash panel. It’s an easy job. Took me less than 30 minutes. I also used the REDARC Tow Pro Universal Mount. I installed the mount/and **** (controller) in the blank below the parking brake and dimmer.

Funny, I was just looking into this on Tuesday.

I'm looking at a Curt controller that is wireless. I like the functionality of it and the ease of setting it up. Its not perfect, but for the few times that I will tow it should work great.

Have a picture of the **** installation in the blank? How well did the redarc universal mount fit the opening?

Out of the box, the fit is a tad loose, so I used the enclosed foam to tighten things up a bit and finally added some double side 3M tape as well. It looks good and fits well. Other option would have been to drill it out the factory blank.

That looks great! Nice to see someone has a working system in their Defender.

I’m sure I can figure it out but any Pointers on the lower panel? Are there screws? Snap clips?

Take a couple pics on access and how to access the panel, and we can turn this into a DIY thread on the brake controller. I’m going to tackle mine in two weeks!
