Default Brake Pad Life/Longevity?

Looking at getting the 42k service done soon. When I got the oil changed at 30k the dealership said that both front and rear pads were "Yellow" which to me, means that they were halfway worn so I'm expecting them to recommend changing them again.

What kind of brake pad life are y'all getting on your 110's?

I still have 6mm remaining both front & rear according to the tech inspection video that my dealer sent me after my alignment the other day, and I'm at 44k miles. At this rate, I'm guessing I can at least get another 10k miles out of these original pads.

keep in mind I have the P300 with the smaller two-piston brakes.

I changed my rear pads at 58,000 miles. They were a gnat's whisker away from reaching the wear sensor. Rotors are in great shape. 100,000 + miles should be no difficulty whatsoever.

The fronts have lots of miles still in them. They are a much bigger pad. I have the new set and I keep an eye on the pads every so often. I'm thinking I'll get to at least 70,000 possibly 80,000 with room to spare. The front wear sensor needs replacement if it has been activated. The rear wear sensor should be replaced regardless. This is per the LR instructions.

I'm at 61k on my 110 P400 and I just checked this morning and I have similar wear like Gavin. I've been doing my own brakes since I was a wee lad and with similar heavy euro makes and it's strange that the rears are needing replacements before the fronts. My fronts indeed looks like it can go another 10 to 15k before replacement. @GavinC any noticeable change in braking behavior now that you have new rear pads and older front pads?

It is pretty common for rear brakes to go first, as nowadays many automakers use the rear brakes more in order to prevent excessive nose dive under normal braking. One of my friends recently replaced the rear brakes on his Macan, and I wouldn't be surprised if I'll need to do the same on my Macan.

Thanks y'all. Seems that this is something I can put off for a bit. The boss is a little.... upset over that $720 oil change back in the fall so I'm trying to set expectations for the 42k service. She's used to paying Honda maintenance costs.

no. Brakes are top notch. No complaints.

the front pads are just so massive. Probably 8 times the total braking surface area over the rears. That’s why they last far longer even with the engine weight and them being fronts.

the front pads are about twice the price of the rears. New bolts are needed too. Big fat ones with a high torque and a second step tightening.

the rears are a dead simple job. Fun to do.

Yes once I go out of warranty this will be my responsibility.

it's strange that the rears are needing replacements before the fronts.
I think this is common in fully independent setups for the rears to go first. On the H1 the rears always wear much much faster than the fronts.

Sorry it's slightly off topic but does anyone have aftermarket pad recommendation for better bite with low dust?
I was using EBC Redstuff for most of my cars but EBC does not make any low dust, high performance pads for Defender V6.
So far, I was not be able to find higher quality pads or rotors (better bites/low dust).
If anyone has any recommendation, please share.
