Not yet and possibly never. After many years on the LR4 forum, the consensus was that the best pads & rotors for the LR4 were OEM. Don't be surprised if the same is true for the Defender. Thank you to the engineers that developed the Defender brakes. They are powerful, low dust and last twice as long as the LR4 brakes.

Was doing the front brakes yesterday on the Discovery (2017 D5) and figured I checked this forum to see what I should be expecting in terms of timing of brake change on the D90. The D90 is at 47,500 miles and original brakes seem in great shape, which is a relief as the D5 is much less gentle: 73,250 miles and on it's third set of rears (average 23k miles per set) and just put the second set of fronts. @GavinC looks like you are on track for new rotors every other change of pad. I typically do rotors every pad change on the D5 but I am probably leaving plenty of rotor on the table (will measure the ones I removed to see how much). Rotors ain't cheap these days...

I'm not convinced the rotors won't out last the vehicle at this stage. Maybe not, but 120k miles should be no challenge. They still look mint and swapping them out is not on my radar. Front pads still looking fat and happy at 69k miles. I had one of the front wheels off last weekend swapping out an auxiliary radiator and had a look.

Front pads have about triple the contact area of the rear pads, hence their longevity. I got a little shy of 60k miles on the rear pads. Probably could have gone another few thousand but I was very close to the wear sensor and decided it was time.

The OEM brakes seem to be very durable, robust, and over engineered. Very good to know when you're towing up and over mountain passes.

Rear rotors and new pads. ~60k miles on the old
Rear rotors and new pads. ~60k miles on the old

I wonder how much effect the P400 MHEV system has on extending brake pad/rotor life? IIRC under initial and lower levels of breaking, some of the deceleration is done via the start/stop motor/generator as it is used for regeneration of power to charge up the 48V battery in the boot?

Most of my driving takes advantage of the regen braking. I regularly get 22-25 mpg
