Default Buying out of state

I have found my perfectly specced Defender at a dealer in New York. The problem is, the dealer said they can only sell to customers in the tri-state area. Salesperson said it’s to keep the business for the service department, but my suspicion is they are trying to prevent exporting. My question is, is there any way around this? Would love to buy the this car but they won’t sell to me! I live in Chicago. Thanks for any help or advice.

I bought mine out of state in August 2020 from Land Rover of Hunt Valley in Maryland. Some dealers did tell me they didn’t do out of state deals for whatever reason. Good luck.

Walk in with a duffle of cash and you'll get your Defender.

ya probably a situation where they don't want to deal long distance by phone with short supply inventory - if you showed up in person I'm sure they would deal
