Good day. I'm hoping to get a better solution on how to cleanly route the cable from a 100W solar panel to the rear cargo or back seat area of a 110. The purpose of having the solar panel is to keep a Jackery topped off on extended trips. I really do not want to do any serious drilling or cutting since this is only for occasional use. I searched for and found some really great threads in this forum on serious cable routing involving removing panels and cutting, but that is above my pay grade. The cable is a 12 or 14 gauge and I don't see why it needs to be that heavy as it is only a 100 watt panel, but I can't find a smaller size. The black cable shielding in the photo is to somewhat cover the orange cable. Thanks!
I think the only pre existing holes are on the firewall in a few spots. (ie route frontwards, down a pillar, then you’d have to go all the way back interior -- which seems like the wrong way to go for what you want to do). Otherwise, you’re having to drill to get in direct from the roof to the back.
One thought occurred to me. There might be a pathway behind those blackcorner rectangles (upper d pillar) on either side of the rear end, above the taillights? you would need to watch videos of people installing accessories in that area to tell, maybe remove some waterproofing stickers that exist back there, but again I don’t know for sure. It’s the first place I’d think might work.
In the spirit of nashvegas's suggestion. Take a look at this video for inspiration to drill the top panel in the rear. It's probably your only choice to get a wiring harness cleanly through the body and into the roof rack.
I'm planning something similar and I have these boxes already installed. Just can't bring myself to drill a hole.
