Default Camping in the Defender

I tried sleeping in the Defender on a quick overnight-er to a trail running spot. It worked great except for the alarm going off on me (twice). I'm curious if others sleep in the Defender and if so, what sort of routine they use to avoid the alarm tripping as well as dreaded battery drain. I'd prefer to have the doors locked but ended up just sleeping with them unlocked to avoid the alarm.

I've read on this forum that it requires a double press on the remote to set the alarm but have also read in the manual that alarm is set on single press for NA models and the only way to not have the alarm set is to disable it on PiviPro before i put it through its last lock cycle for the night. I'd prefer if i could just lock with the door buttons as the system should assume I'm still inside but not sure if that works. Anyone have a fool proof process to lock doors but not set the alarm?

For the battery, I'm assuming i just need to get a Faraday cage and then leave a door ajar until final lock down for the night. I've heard of people putting a carabiner into the rear latch to trick the vehicle into thinking its closed but again, I'd prefer a solution that allows me to lock the vehicle.

If anyone has an insight into a good routine I'd appreciate the comments.

Thanks

Hmmmm this is interesting. I've probably spent around 30 nights in my defender and have never had the alarm go off. I've worked in the front seat with it locked and then climbed in the back to sleep and the alarm didn't go off.

My routine is usually to set up camp then get in the car and press the lock button once and go to bed. Hardest thing for me is remembering to unlock it before opening the door.

I'm REALLY not good with all the Defender optioning, but I thought in some trims/options you could choose a "safety" or "alarm" option that monitors if there is interior activity. Depending on which one the two of you have, it could be triggering (or not) due to the interior movement. Someone better with all the options (or newer to the build process!) may know.

I don't have an alarm go off when I work/sleep in it like @Keedan . Good luck.

I have a North American base model. Don't think I paid for any security features that I know of. Can try to pull out the sticker if that helps! Shoot for all I know my alarm could not work at all

I paid an extra $500 for "Intrusion Sensors"... regretting it as I've never felt the need for an alarm in the past and now it just dogs me constantly. I've set it off on the ferry a couple times now as well.. I used to get irritated by people that did that and now I'm one of them!!. I need to test the buttons on the door and lock it while its closed to see if it sets the alarm.

All that being said, absolutely loving my Defender.

Most defenders dont have intrusion sensors. Since you do, your going to set it off camping everytime. We camp inside our defender and without intrusion sensors you simply lock the doors from the inside and the vehicle batteryt isnt affected and the doors are locked for safety but the alarm is not activated. If your going to be doing a lot of camping id find a way to disconnect the intrusion sensors and then have to find an after market shop that can remove the software programming for the sensors.

Try using the master lock switch on the driver's door, rather than the remote.

I dont have a Defender, but do the door have individual manual locks on them? In my LR3, I can just manually lock each door from the inside to avoid alarm issues.
