i'm wondering for if there is a way to retrofit the HUD display in 2024 defender which was not include in factory option when place the order and already get the car now.

 

While technically it is possible to do with the GAP tool, you'd have to purchase at least an entire new dashboard with the HUD built-in and a new windshield before you can even attempt to make it work. Just the HUD assembly alone is $3200.

You would definitely invalidate your warranty if you did that though I think.

 

Yes it would invalidate the warranty. Have you looked into aftermarket huds? Amazon has many listed. It will not be OE but you can get it at a fraction of the cost of retrofitting the OE hud.

 

I have the HUD and ... the only thing I like it for is the adaptive cruise control ... it is quite good for that.

Would I pay thousands of dollars to retrofit? Nope.

 

I had it as an option on my new Defender at a cost of €1,470 and the stupid salesman forgot to tick the box for it when putting the order in so a top of the range defender with nearly all options ticked now has no HUD. I was really upset over it. but I got the cost of the unit back + €3,000 as compo. I have looked at aftermarket ones but don't like that most require connection to a USB cable for their power - that would make the dash too messy looking for me.

 

I understand that the aftermarket ones will require a connection, but a competent car audio shop can easily hide it and make it look neat. I had the HUD on my 22 V8 Defender Carpathian Edition and I never felt the need to use the HUD during my drives.

 

I have it. I like it. The BMW one in my wifes car is superior in every way. It pops up the map and driving directions at complicated moments of a route. I wouldnt pay to add it to my defender especially at 3k.

 

Just like everyone said, it's not worth. I have it on mine but I'll not spec it if I order. not much info.
